GMA
FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

OUR COMMITMENT

Sustainability, responsibility, circularity

GMA is actively committed to researching and developing new methods and materials aligned with the principles of the circular economy, thus contributing to the balance between production, consumption and re-use, where nothing is thrown away, and everything is recycled. We can thus reduce waste, our environmental impact and our consumption of precious resources.

All prevention and repair activities are carefully studied to maximise efficiency and reduce waste. This translates into tangible results for our clients, which are not only cost-effective but also ecologically sustainable.

More specifically, our operations include the repair and structural reinforcement of existing plants and infrastructure, an approach that has proven essential in extending the lifespan of plants and equipment. Alternative solutions to demolition and replacement are found, thereby not only saving materials but also limiting the production of waste and CO2 emissions associated with the transportation and processing of new materials.
At the same time, the latest-generation anti-corrosion coatings we apply ensure lasting protection against corrosive agents, extending the life of assets and reducing the frequency with which they need to be replaced.

In addition to having a direct impact on reducing raw material consumption, it also prevents potential damage to the environment caused by harmful substances that could be released from degraded plants.

In addition to these operational initiatives, GMA also invests in the environmental education of its staff, in the knowledge that raising awareness is the first step towards real and lasting change. Through workshops, seminars and training programs, we encourage our teams to identify and implement daily work practices that help further our vision of a greener future.

GMA is committed to actively collaborating with clients, suppliers and partners in developing solutions able to generate positive economic, environmental and social impacts. Through our combined efforts, we strive to be pioneers in our industry, setting new standards of environmental responsibility.

OUR PROJECTS

CLEAN - Coating Life for ANticorrosive applications

progetto RS

G.M.A. has received a grant from the POR FESR 2021-2027 Fund for the realisation of the CLEAN project – Coating Life Extension for Anticorrosive applications, which will focus on the following topics: in-depth study of the anti-fouling and heat exchange properties of the Phencote system for coating heat exchangers, optimisation of the application system, LCA of the process and definition of the relevant standards. Each stage of research will be conducted in collaboration with the Department of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Trieste and MaterialScan S.r.l.

NO MORE WASTE!

gma

Consuming paper means consuming trees and impoverishing nature. An electric hand-dryer saves an average of 24 trees in 16 years and helps preserve the environment.
We are excited about this small step, with new electric hand-dryers powered by our own solar panels.
To raise awareness, we have eliminated waste bins from our offices.

LET’S ENCOURAGE THE HABIT OF PRODUCING LESS WASTE!
Often, we mistakenly presume that recycling in the workplace is someone else’s responsibility. But while certain tasks are the responsibility of cleaning staff, there are many other things we can each do to help protect the environment, in our offices and workplaces.

THE WATER FESTIVAL
Festival acqua staranzano

The best way to involve people is to find new ways of communicating, so that everyone can experience a thrill.
And that’s exactly what the Staranzano Water Festival proposed to do, staging a sustainable performance to showcase the wonders of nature at ISOLA DELLA CONA: a visual, headphone-wearing theatre, with zero environmental impact.
We are proud to have sponsored this project dedicated to the importance of water and environmental issues.
The Festival’s main activities include:
Talks and Meetings: experts from various disciplines will share their knowledge on crucial topics such as hydro-geological instability, water resources, the art of science, the human-landscape relationship and climate change.
Shows and Educational Performances: from “Water Stories” to “Tell me what you want to see”, engaging and educational shows will bring to life topics such as the climate, our relationship with the land and the future of the planet.
Workshops and Activities for Schools: young people will be involved through projects such as “Isonzo, a green corridor”, water survey workshops, the creation of documentary videos and educational paths on the water cycle.
Events and Exhibitions: exhibition linked to the “Irisacqua for Future” project, photo reports on the territory’s mutation and more.
Culture and Entertainment: concerts, theatre performances and art projects exploring topics such as climate change and water.

EARTH DAY AND THE GMA GARDEN

Giornata terra orto

“Earth Day” has been an annual fixture for the GMA family since 2018. On this special occasion, we invite our employees’ children to join us in planting and cultivating the GMA garden, a tangible symbol of our commitment to sustainable practices and sound nutrition.
The event is not only a time for celebration but also a precious educational opportunity, where youngsters can learn the value of biodiversity and the importance of eating responsibly.
It’s not just about planting seeds, but about living an experience that educates people on the value of the land and the importance of sustainable farming.
The GMA Garden is a project that lasts well beyond one day. It is a small step towards a bigger change, a practical demonstration of how individual choices can positively impact the environment and our health.
We believe it is essential to set a valid, quantifiable example that promotes environmental sustainability and the quality of our food, providing proper nutritional education.
We are proud of this initiative which has strengthened ties between employees, their families and the environment, promoting the values of responsibility, care and sustainability, which we hope will also be carried forward to future generations.

PMG “CITTÀ IMPATTO POSITIVO”

PMG

This experience has deeply inspired us, since implementing measurable actions make us an active part of a community that joins forces to generate a positive and tangible impact on our region.

Specifically, PMG Italia works in three main areas:

Social: a 9-seater vehicle was delivered to transport those with disabilities, providing valuable support to fragile people within the community.

Environmental: 40 olive trees were planted in the CISI area. These trees improve the landscape and symbolise values of peace and sharing.

Cultural: 4th and 5th-year high school students from the Istituto Marconi in Gorizia and the I.S.I.S. “Sandro Pertini” in Manfalcone, were educated on environmental issues.
